Andrea De Vitis (Italy) wins the XIII Mercatali Competition and the Audience Award


In memory of Dr. Enrico Mercatali, a Guitarist who played for many years with the Gorizia Guitar Orchestra, the non-profit cultural association “Centro Chitarristico Mauro Giuliani” establishes and organizes the 13th European Classical Guitar Competition “Enrico Mercatali”. This competition, meant to promote and develop the musical art, is open to all performers of both sexes and all nationalities. The competition will be held in Gorizia from 13 to 15 May 2016 and will consist of the following categories: 1st category: soloists born in 2005 and after; 2nd category: soloists born in 2002 and after; 3rd category: soloists born in 1999 and after; 4th category: soloists born in 1996 and after; 5th category: chamber music for young competitors. Guitar duo, trio, quartet and ensemble; guitar with other instrument/s. The average age of the components of the groups should not exceed 18 years old. 6th category (The Enrico Mercatali Prize): soloists with no age limit; 7th category: chamber music with no age limit: guitar duo, trio, quartet and ensemble; guitar with other instrument/s.

Inscription fees.

Categories 1st through 4th: € 45; Category 5th: € 35 per head – € 230 per ensemble with 7 or more musicians; Category 6th: € 55; Category 7th: € 55 per head – € 330 per ensemble with 6 or more musicians.

Application deadline is 26 April 2016. Applications must be submitted no later than the deadline in one of the following ways:

Should you have any problem applying with the above methods, please contact the organization committee. The following must be enclosed in the applications sent via fax or e-mail. Any incomplete application will be disqualified:

  1. application form (please fill in the form enclosed to the brochure or downloaded from the competition website);
  2. Copy of a valid identification document;
  3. Copy of the payment receipt of the registration fee.

Dimitri Illarionov President of the International Jury of the 13th International Guitar Competition “Mercatali” of Gorizia – Italy

The phenomenal russian guitarist Dimitri Illarionov will be the president of the Jury of the 6th category (soloists without age limit) in the next International Guitar Competition “Mercatali” to be held in Gorizia – Italy from 13th to 15th May 2016.

Dimitri Illarionov, considered one of the most important guitarist of our days, will be also protagonist of the opening concert of the 13th International Guitar Festival. The concert will be held in Gorizia in the beautiful concert hall of the “Palazzo De Grazia” on 12th May 2016 at 20.30 with free entry.
