Nikolay Mihaylov

Nikolay Lyudmilov Mihaylov was born on 2 July 1988 in Pleven, Bulgaria. He began learning to play the guitar when he was fourteen – firstly he attended Lubomir Anov’s classes and then Alexander Pumpalov’s. In 2012 he graduated from the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pantcho Vladigerov” – Sofia, in Rosen Balkanski’s guitar class. During his education he founded many formations with which he’s won many prizes:

1st prize in “Author-composer” category at the Cled’or International Competition in Plovdiv with the band Threemystic (2006);
1st prize in “Chamber music” category at the Acad. Marin Goleminov International Competition for classical guitar in Kyustendil with guitar duo NOI (2011);
2nd prize in “Chamber music” category at the Acad. Marin Goleminov International Competition for classical guitar in Kyustendil with the guitar quartet to the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pantcho Vladigerov” – Sofia (2012);
3rd prize at the Acad. Marin Goleminov International Competition for classical guitar in Kyustendil (2012, 2013).
His film music and sound design pursuits, which have been part of many films, have got him many international prizes and participations – Seventh International Short Film Festival “ At the Palace” in Balchik; Jameson Short Film Festival (2011); Thirteenth Film Festival at NBU in Sofia; etc. He’s been teaching classical guitar, chamber music and chamber ensemble at the International Arts School “Panayot Pipkov” – Pleven since 2011. He is a member of “Art close to me” association, founder and main organizer of Pleven Guitar Festival
NIkolay is part of an international jury in Bulgaria and abroad. In 2014 Nikolay Mihaylov was awarded for outstanding contribution in the filed of art by Pleven Muicipality and in 2015 he was honoured with a prize in the sphere of culture
