Pietro Locatto

Pietro Locatto was born in Turin in 1990. He musically grew up under the guidance of Stefano Grondona at the Conservatory of Vicenza, where he graduated with highest honors in 2008. Later, under the guidance of  Frederic Zigante , he obtained second level teaching diploma at the Conservatory of Turin with the highest marks and second level concert diploma at the Conservatory of Alessandria with highest honors.
He followed courses of Laura Mondiello and Oscar Ghiglia getting scholarships and special awards including the Diploma of Merit of Accademia Musicale Chigiana of Siena.
He also attended masterclasses of masters like Paul Galbraith, CarlesTrepat, Jukka Savijoki, Arturo Tallini.
He is classified in various competitions: 1st prize at the National Competition XVII ” Giulio Rospigliosi” Lamporecchio, 1st prize at the International Competition “Academy Award 2011” in Rome, 1st prize at the VII International Competition of musical performance “Città di Asti” (2012), 1st prize VII National Contest “Rotary Music” in Vercelli (2012), winner of the “Second Edition of the Festival of Young Musicians Concerts” organized by C. Porqueddu in Nuoro (2012), 3rd prize at the VI International Competition for classical Guitar “Ruggero Chiesa- Città di Camogli” (2012), 2nd prize at the “3rd International Guitar Competition Stefano Strata – Città di Pisa” and the 1st prize at the XV International Guitar Competition “Niccolò Paganini “in Parma (2013), winner of  “Premio Campus 2014 – Campus festival 2014” and “Premio Campus 2015-Campus Festival 2015” in Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza), 2nd prize and pubblic prize at International Guitar Competition “Comarca el Contado2015” (Jaen-Spain), 4th prize at “Sevilla International guitar competition 2015” 1st prize at “Gianni Bergamo International guitar competition 2016”, 3th prize at “London International Guitar Competition 2016”, 1st Prize al “3rdBale-Valle International Guitar Competition 2017” (Croatia).
Invited to participate as a performer during the events related to the International Congress of Guitar in Alessandria  he performs as a soloist and in various chamber ensembles in many festivals and towns in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Croatia, England, Portugal.

From 2013 he takes part of the “Supernova” project directed by Arturo Tallini.
Now he has the prestigious “De Sono” italianscolarship and he has recently obteined a Master’s degree at the Conservatory of Lugano with the highest honors under the guidance of Lorenzo Micheli and he is also assistant-teacher at the Conservatory of Alessandria.

Pietro Locatto is unanimously considered one of the most interesting and promising Italian musicians of his generation. His extraordinary interpretative skills quickly projected him into the empyrean of the very few Italian guitarists of international importance. As a soloist, as an element of the “Supernova” ensemble or on the highest steps of an important international competition, his outstanding musical intelligence was able to stand out and be appreciated by the public and experts of the subject
